1965 Globetrotter water lines

Hi everyone, I have the Airstream of my dreams and she needs new water lines. I have been told by a reputable local RV shop that Airstream told them 24 hours labor for this job. I am new to this, but that sounds crazy to me?? Has anybody had experience with waterline replacement and can you tell me if this is crazy or not? If it is crazy, what would be an accurate estimate for this job. This shop charges $114 per hour - at 24 hours - yikes! Thanks so much,
Jeremy

I paid an RV repairman less than $400 and about 4 hours of work to replace my lines with pex.

I had all the fixtures in place and had removed the old lines. I also hired him in the off-season.

That was my experience....good luck.

Thank you for your post! I thought 24 hours didn't sound right. All my fixtures are in place but the old lines are still there...even still your experience sounds like the experience I want to have. I wish I had your repairman!

Best regards,
Jeremy

Jeremy, the job isn't really that complicated. It is within the reach of DIY work, for sure!

Thank you for your post Lynn. It just sounded fishy to me...I made a couple of calls and discovered that the hourly estimate of 24, also included removing and replacing the old hot water heater, however - 24 hours still sounds a bit steep even with that. Good to know that this job has DIY status as far as ease. My DIY plumbing skills are ok with replacing faucets and toilet innards (used to own a B&B) this re-plumb I'll have to leave to the professionals. Thanks again Lynn!
