Zip Dee Parts

I have an opportunity to buy a 78 Overlander that has a Zip Dee awning on it with what looks like a metal cover. My question is can it be used on my 68 Overlander? I think I read somewhere they are not the same brackets or extensions. Are brackets available for a 68 and if so what should I look for?
Thanks,

Give Zip Dee a call and ask them. They have always been able to answer any question asked. They try hard to take care of us Airstreamers.

Because of the long weekend and a price that is almost too good to pass up I was hoping to find a source for info today. I don't think the trailer will last the weekend.

The AS3 hardware from the 78 will fit the 68, but the roller tube on the 78 is 16' 11 1/4", the 68 uses a 15' 11 1/4" roller tube assembly.

Greg,
The fabric on the one I'm looking at is shot. Can the roller be cut to size to fit my coach.
Where did you find the AS3 information?

Yes, you can cut the roller tube. It's safer to cut the end, that is closest to the front of the trailer. In that way, you won't mess with the spring, which is on the rear half.

Knowledge of Zip Dee's products, as Greg does, makes it easy to know which arm set to use for which year Airstream.

Replacing the fabric, must be done with extreme precision, so that the fabric will roll up correctly. If not, the fabric will coil up towards the front or rear of the tube.

That's why Zip Dee sells the fabric and roller tube, already assembled. Saves the trouble of installing the fabric.
