Loose Awning Brackets

Mostly from a lot of use. We travel 8 months of the year so the entire unit gets a lot of use. We are very cautious about leaving the awning extended. Never extended when we are away from the Airstream and we try to avoid any wind over 20mph. Adding a doubler or some type of reinforcement is one of the Areas Airstream could definitely improve on during the factory installation.

I also make it a habit to turn off the city water supply when we are away from the Airstream. We have seen several trailers in our travels with water pouring from underneath while no one was around.

I noticed that the brcket that was loose was not installed on a rib. When I installed my patio awning the instructions were very specific that it line up on a rib for additional support.

You are correct. The rear bracket was not installed on a rib. However, this was a factory installation on a new Airstream. You would think the factory would have placed the mount on the rib.
