Zip Dee Front or Rear Awning CANOPY WINGS

A month or so ago I asked a question about some mystery snaps on my rear small retractable window awning.

I am reviving an old thread to ask about something that my searching has not answered.

There are 2 snaps on each side of the awning equally spaced top to bottom. Female snaps. I do not think there are any male snaps for them to mate with.Could be
but I cannot go look til next week. I don't recall seeing any.
Now why would a tensioned pull down window awning need such snaps?
I am not sure that snaps would hold against the strong pull of the spring tension anyway. The awning when extended attaches to a hook below the window with a loop made of the blue-fancy awning material.

I present for your perusal and knowledge base:

NOTE: the colors listed are not current numbers and most are not available from Sunbrella.
The red & white in the illustration is not available any longer as well.
The item itself is still available, but not a stock item. (they will make it up on order)
The snaps & hardware are still available. The dealers (such as Inland RV) will have to call Zip Dee to get pricing as the Canopy Wings are not in the Dealer price book.

Zip Dee told me these were quite popular back in the 70's and 80's. I had never seen a pic with them and really am not interested in a set for my trailer. With a rockguard as so many have, I am not even sure that the front awning would mount.And why would you want it to?
The original use was for shading of the wing windows in front. However some apparently also used them in the rear for privacy on the single center window which had no wings (except in a few Argosy's).

Our 1986 34' Excella had the "Wings" on the rear window and they work great...

Thanks for posting the info on these. I know the post you made was in 2009 but I just ran across it. We have those on our 1979 and it would be great to see the instructions a little closer. Or at the least, can you see if there is a rod that bows and holds the canopies out like the photo on the left? I have been unable to find out that info.

Ours droop unlike the photo you have and I am not sure that was the intention although I cannot see any mounting location for rods if they were originally used:

There are no rods.... they jet snap to the skin and the awning....
