I ordered one today from Inland RV. Was the best price I could find. I called several dealers, all wanted me to measure very carefully a certain way. Inland asked for the serial number and knew exactly what size to order from that. Should be here in a few weeks.

Two weeks, to be exact.
One week in production, and one week for shipping, from near Chicago to the state of Washington.

Are the window awnings made in increments of 6" in length, or made to order to the exact length?

I have asked a quote from andy and CG trailers and before that to Lew Lewster ( rom this forum )for my awnings replacements and I 'll give you the result... here is my demand:
Hi there ;
happy to get in touch with you;
Now my next work is the replacement of my 2 awning on my A/S.
Here are the model and dimensions:
Airstream 1971 international overlander 27'
I27D1J1717
Great awning in meters:
5.12 X 1.80 and 0.28 around the tube.
small awning ( rear A/S bathroom ):
1.17 X 0.45 and 0.2O aroud the tube;
Both are Zip Dee;they are with genuine stripes blue & white ; i'll take the same model ( may be do you have different design than Zipdee propose? I'had seen stars & stripes awning but where to buy... may be you can find it ?)
Only price for the drapery/canopy.
Don't forget to tell me the shipping price too with USPS only ( no UPS... too much expensive and custom taxes ... ).
Thank you by advance;

Zip Dee window awnings are made with 6" increments, except the special rear window size.
For the standard Airstream, that size is 47 inches.
However, a special size awning for the road side, can be ordered.

I'm thinking about one window awning extending over both windows on the street side of our '65 Caravel.
The side panel is 84" end to end. In order for the brackets at the lower end of the arms to attach to the inner frame, the attaching holes on the lower brackets must be 83 1/2 inches apart. I would really like to attach to the frame, rather than just the skin.
I measured an awning on a new Airstream yesterday and found that the awning rail is mounted 30" above the bottom of the window, and the arm bracked is 24" below the awning rail.
By attaching to the vertical frame, the up and down placement of the awning is negotiable. That is, high enough to see out of the window, low enough to get shade most of the time.
Will an 84" awning work for me?

ZipDee makes a great awning and has excellent customer support. How many companies can you phone and ask to speak to the president? His name is James Webb and he really helped me out when my awning was damaged in a rain storm (my fault).

here is the first reply from CGTrailer on march, the 22nd:
The patio awning fabric is $29.00 per ft. The window awning fabric is $23.00 per ft.
"I have your measurements. Are your measurements the exact size of the fabric only? I need a measurement from left to right of only the fabric. Can you measure in feet and inches? If not, I can have Zip Dee figure it out."
waiting prices with my measurements; I can't measure in inches.
The second one to reply with more precision is LEWSTER, from this forum, today:
"Zip-Dee needs to know the measurements of the aluminum cover of the awnings as these dictate the exact fabric length.
Prices are as follows:
Window awning: $84
Patio awning: $493
I discount these 15% for the Forum so the total would be $491 plus shipping. I am trying to get a price from the US Post Office to ship to France."
I've now an idea of what that'll cost me ( except the shipping ) but i can't measure the covers as the A/S is in wintering until May....
No news from the others... Airstream of Chicago ?, Zip dee/ Linda ? Inland RV who was online just after my demand post ? Curious.....
Wait & see

I understand that you use the metric system. What I don't understand is why you can't just measure in metric and then translate into inches or feet? If the vendor gives you a measurement of 92", you can figure the feet out yourself by dividing by 12.

Bruno, one inch equals 2.54 cm.

Snap-on Tools sells a measuring tape printed in both inches and centemeters. I know that Snap-on has dealers in France as we saw more than one on a visit to France a few years ago.
I have one. It is not only good for measuring, but for conversion when a calculator is not handy.

My time at my office, due to some health issues, is very limited.
I answer some posts and/or e-mails from home, and sometimes from my office at my shop, for the time being.
I do not have, nor do I want any catalogs pertaining to Airstream parts, in my home, not even Zip Dee catalogs.
Home, "to me," is a place to relax, and be with you loved ones.
Since you have written several suppliers of Zip Dee awnings, including the Zip Dee factory, we are sure that you will receive competitive quotes.
Therefore to save you time, we respectfully decline to submit a quote for your Zip Dee needs.
Me being on line, as you stated, doesn't mean I was at my office.
Andy
