Hi: We have a 34 ft classic, it has a 21 ft main awning. Noticed last year it was a little slow winding back up. This year had it down today to wash it and heard a wonderful sound like a spring unwinding.
I have the instructions on how to rewind but I suspect that possiblt the end of the spring may have broken off allowing it to unwind.
So before I plunge ahead has anyone worked on these units that could possibly give me some insite as to what I may expect.
Thanks in advance
Deny
What you are describing does sound like a broken spring. Before you dive into the roller you should check both ends to make sure the bolt that goes through the roller rod is there. If the bolt is missing easy fix. New bolt and read instructions again on winding. If spring is broke it is a bit more work. Call Zip Dee with any questions they are great about helping out. Good luck.....Tim

This is what the parts look like: Awnings By ZipDee
The spring is attached to the rear arm and there should have X number of turns of tension.
X = length of awning (feet) plus 7 if it is extended.
A call to zipdee would be your best bet. They have very good customer service.
