zip dee awning will not roll

does anyone have advice on what steps I should take to repair my roller? I got the lock pin to move, but it all seems very frozen
the only way I have used the awning is by pulling the pin off the arm, and then roll the whole thing out by hand,, I think I need to get the steel tube off and then drill the rivets off the plug to get to the spring assemble, what do you all think is the best way to do this project? Your advice will be a big help, thank you, John

Your Z-Lock lever is broken. You should be able to get a replacement from Zip Dee. Here is a breakdown of the parts: Awnings By ZipDee

Be careful when working on the roller. You need to remove the tension before you disassemble anything on the roller.

It's a 2 person job. Disconnect the support arm from the trailer on the spring side of the awning. 2nd person's job is to support the roller end. Using the support arm unwind the spring.

PS
if you are curious what could happen if you don't unwind the spring search for my thread "Airstream Owies".

I got the new Z LOCK with the instructions, for the idle end (front or awning only)
I was wondering, when I drill out the rivets to change out my Z-LOCK, is it going to spin out on me? John
