Zip Dee Awning stripped screw holes.....

I have a 71 Sovereign with a Zip Dee Awning. The rear lower brace is only being held on by one screw. I have attempted to replace the two stripped out screws with larger ones and they too have stripped out. Any ides on how to secure these?

Thanks.

Those brackets are supposed to be riveted in, with 3/16 inch rivets.

Our bracket was also held in place by 2 #12 stainless screws on the rib and a rivet on the skin. The rivet was pulled loose at one time. Not the ideal solution but I replaced the rivet with one of these and drew it down with the screw that came with it. Then backed the screw out and replaced it with a stainless screw and washer. It tamped down tight and has held well.

Rivet a plate to the skin and then rivet the hinge to the plate.
