I have a Zip Dee auto awning that came on my 2014 27FB International. I wanted a manual, but I bought it off a dealer's lot and it had the auto on it. 3 years old now and the motor in one of the arms has gone out Zip Dee says they don't sell the motor separate and you have to buy the whole arm for over $1000. It is probably a $50 motor. Unbelievable... I called Zip Dee and they said I could send the arm in and they would replace the motor with a rebuilt one. I wasn't able to get a price from them on doing that. Has anyone experienced similar issue with Zip Dee and sent this arm in for repair? If so, how did it go? Any other options? I will never own another automatic awning...
I am sure you will post any solutions you find. I also have an Auto Awning.
I find it odd that ZipDee will not give you a price to rebuild. You may need to get to someone else at ZipDee that can give you an answer. I have found different quality levels of Customer service when I contacted ZipDee on other problems.
You may also get some help from Airstream Customer Service or the Service Center. I am sure they have had to fix some of these awnings.
If you could open the arm with out damaging it, you may find data info on the motor.
I had a problem with the motor failing the second time we used it. Zip Dee sent me the upgrade motor and control board with instructions on how to replace it. It wasn’t difficult. I’m surprised hear that they won’t sell a replacement motor for yours. If they won’t sell you motor, perhaps you can find one direct from the mfr.
