What color are your awnings

I recently bought a 1979 Sovereign. To my suprise, the Awnings are Brown with a fancy orange stripe. I have awnings all the way around and they all match. They are in excellant condition considering they may be from 1979.

I am wondering if they are original.

I have seen many awnings but typically if they are Zip Dee, they are Pacific Blue Fancy or Green Fancy.

I have have seen grey solid on the new Airstreams.

What color are your awnings and does anybody else have this Chocolate Fancy?

I am looking for Zip Dee Awnings only, (no offense to SOB).

I've seen several of the 60's-early 70's with the brown/orange stripe. My guess is that they are original...the one shown below is a '63 GlobeTrotter and it is original.

Smily,
I have brown/orange on mine as well...I'd rather have A/S Blue on mine but, since it's like new..I can't bring myself to just replacing it yet..~I have four awnings, all orignal, like new and, in excellent condition`!

My buddies 1972 Argosy came with an Orange and Brown Zip Dee awning. The main wind up cylinder rusted out a few years ago. Now toast.

Mine is the A/S Pacific blue stripe colour and it is getting long on the tooth. I think it is original. Also is Zip Dee.

I ordered mine from Zipdee. I saw maroon on 1994 32' and really liked. So ordered same solid maroon for my 72...looks great to me.

What color are your awnings

My '64 Overlander started out life with an Avacado Green and White Stripe A & E travel Awn awning that matched the Avacado Green accents in the interior of the coach. That awning was ruined in a wind storm in 1968, but the replacement was an identical A & E Travel Awn 5,000 that made it through the WBCCI International Rally in Sioux Falls, SD circa 2001. In the spring of 2002, I splurged for a "traditional" blue and white stripe Zip Dee awning with matching window awnings for the bathroom and bedroom (these colors coordinated with my new interior color scheme of blue, white, and silver).

While my '78 Minuet has never had an awning, my plan is to go with the brown and orange stripe from Zip Dee when that time comes - - to coordinate with the interior color scheme of burnt orange, brown, gold and white. It seemed that all of the Argosys (and many of the Airstreams for that matter) traveling in my region in the late 1970s had the brown and orange stripe awnings. The current project with the Minuet is completing the interior restoration/refurbishment as well as adding Air Conditioning and a TV antenna.

My 78 Minuet had the brown and orange awnings, just like the "A&W Root Beer" colors.

My Overlander has the typical blue and white striped ones.

My 1981 Excella had blue and white stripe awnings. My 96 Excella has solid blue with AIRSTREAM in white on the part that hangs down from the roller.

Hey, I was going throuh my paperwork last night and I found the Zip-Dee documentation. They seem to be out of Elk Grove Village, IL. That's a few miles from me. I'm gonna call them to see if parts can be purchased through them, rather than going through a middle man. If anyone is intereted, I'd be happy to post my findings.

Wink

"Pacific Blue Fancy" (actually blue & grey and blends of the two) by Sunbrella by way of Zip Dee.

I wonder why this became the prevalent Airstream fabric?
I guess Blue has been a staple of the company since way back.

I would prefer a similar Red Fancy if one existed.
I have seen few Red & Grey or Red & White stripes on RVs.

Solids are neat, but I just like to think of awnings having stripes.

Ours are black and white A&E, original equipment. They look great against the silver.
