Hi Kevin, I will have the unit picture in my first post in my hands next week, then I can get a better idea of what I need to do or think about.

I can get a standard tube without a groove then attach it some how.
That tube should be about $125-150 I think in a 20' length.

I imagine any used roller tube can be modified to fit the arms.

I like the curved arms a lot better than the Zipdee, infact I bet the Zipdee ends could be adapted with their roller.

Just what I need a new project.

Ok I received the unit, if I take out the rivets on each end cap of the tube will each spring just slide out?

Hey Bob,

Most of them will slide out once the rivets are drilled out. Just make sure that there is no residual tension on the springs, or things will get out of hand.

The canvas was fully extended when I cut it away with a box cutter.

Bill it looks like you were using 1 grove for the main part of the canvas.

Another grove for the scalloped edging?

Is that correct?

IN the pic the small tab with the hole in it was broken off in shipping, what is that for?

Bob,

I can't say for sure, but it looks like an EZ Awn with a 3.5" diameter roller tube. The fabric typically slides in to one slot and the valance (scalloped trim piece) slides into the other. We use the 3rd slot for our rope lights.

I asked Andy to take a look at the pics for an opinion of the brand.

By the way it's a 3" roller tube.

Do you know what the broken part was for?

That is a locking part...Bob, before you would un-furl the awning and pull it out, you would reach up with a screw driver and put it in the hole and pull it down a few inches and that would 'un-lock' it. Andy will say the same thing I bet...Where are you Andy?

Ok, I cleaned up all the parts, springs look good there is wear on some parts but they appear to work fine.

I'm going to friends place tomorrow to glass bead the entire spring assemblies, paint then grease.

Any special grease to use?

I took the 16' rollor tube to a great welding shop and it is now 22" longer.

I'll post a pic of the extention asap.

I have replaced all the lag screws and other mounting hardware with SS.

Still working on a solution for the new sunbrella.
