Wet Awnings

OK, after camping for three days, two and half of which have been pouring rain, it got me thinking, wet awnings and storage.

Any comments on storing with damp awnings? Even damp just from being on the road in a rain storm.

No problem, Do it all the time. Open and dry when I can.

I don't think it's good to store anything away wet. We keep our AS at our sons house and it's only 10mi away from our home. So, if it gets rolled up wet on departure day I will go as soon as I can ( on a nice day ) and open things up to dry out. Keeping in mind that they are exposed to the elements even when rolled up so it may not really be an issue but it makes me feel better to roll them up when dry.

When I am caught in the rain I make it a point to open the awning and dry it out when I get back home. Having had a tent trailer for 17 years, keeping the canvas dry was a necessity for long life. I treat my awning the same.

My short lived experience with an SOB with one of those vinyl awnings proved that if you store one wet it will mildew in a hurry. My Zip Dee has been quite an improvement but I still dry it off before storing it. Better safe than sorry and the cost for replacement isn't something I want to deal with.
