When they collapse, the main arms bend. You can attach the roller to the trailer with the clamps and remove the arms from the heads for traveling. Be very careful because the arm (likely the rear on a patio awning) is spring loaded and can cause damage to you and your trailer. I had to do this once and it required several people to do the job.
Contact zipdee for replacement parts.

Pictures of the damage would help diagnose.
Richard is correct, the main arms are probably bent. Parts are available from Zip Dee, and they are nice folks.

Post pictures here so that a visual can aid in recommendations. Thanks.

What is bent? Is the main roller tube bent? Arms? Still attached to trailer? If the main roller is still straight I would try to roll it up. The spring loaded arm is very dangerous if and when you start taking it apart. I do not see any way to salvage the arms or supports if they are bent so I would do what I had to with them to try to secure the awning. It is also not too terribly hard to detach the whole awning from the trailer but it would be a much easier job with 2 people and 2 ladders. I took a stop screw out and slid the aluminum tambor that covers the awning apart along a joint.

Well, we were rescued by park employees and got the door open, and a ladder under the tube. Looks like it is limited to the main arm bar. Thanks for the advice. I will contact Zip Dee tomorrow

That looks very familiar. I was able to straighten my roller tube, so mine was a cheap fix. End lower bar and tube only for one end.

We lost an awning our first year with the Interstate, due to dumb, newbie choices.
Next time, lower one end greatly and monitor carefully for standing water.
Good luck,
Maggie

Well all I broke was the rear main arm bar. Nice Zip Dee lady will get it right out. I am getting one of my crews to put it in tow position this afternoon until I get the part. All in all, unless I find something else, a fairly inexpensive stupid tax.

Kudos to our dealer, Rick Foley, who sent me a PM shortly after this happened, with cell numbers for his Parts Dept. & Service Dept. Managers, to see if they could help. We were still trapped inside, and this was early Sunday morning!

After weather delays and family deaths, we finally replaced the arm yesterday. I figured out that if I took a heavy tube and slipped it over the broken arm, I could then safely lift the roller without the spring unwinding. My wife opened the awning normally while I lifted the rear end and sat it down on my Little Giant ladder (lifesaver in this instance). Once that was done it was simple to unwind, replace the arm and rewind. I am pleased we were able to repair by ourselves.

Hello ...my husband and I are new members and new AirStreamers. We have a 2017 International 27FB that we purchased new last year. It’s the first recreational vehicle we have ever owned and have been full timing since May 8th, 2019. Still learning every single day.
Recent lesson has been that our power awning collapsed during an unexpected wind and rain storm. Total destruction and we’re wondering if anyone had recent experience as to what the cost might be to replace the entire assembly (nothing was salvaged). Wiring had to be cut to the main supports in order to get it to a service centre.
Thanks so much
