Types of patio awnings

We have a 1967 20 ft Globetrotter with a battered, mildewed Carefree awning. We are unsure of the age of the awning, but I don't think it is as old as the trailer. Went to Caseys Recreational in Wheat Ridge, Colorado to have an Alumi-cover awning fabric installed with the existing hardware.
They sent me home with bolts missing and a note on the invoice stating the awning tube with the metal cover will not sit against the trailer body.
With the tube up in the air, the spring alone WILL NOT keep the tube from unrolling travelling.
Talking with Carefree, they don't make hardware for Airstreams older than 1969. No one told me that at the time I ordered the replacement fabric. And the service mgr at Casey's now tells me and Carefree they discrimniate against RV's that are older than 1980. They don't want the grief of anything above and beyond the mundane.
QUESTION: Does anyone know if ZipDee or A&E Awnings companies make replacement awnings/hardware for a 36 year old Globetrotter? The story is much more involved with "he said, she said, they said" scenarios, but I won't bore you.
Thanks

Zip dee can provide you an Awning that will fit your unit like a glove.

But before you get out the checkbook, It sounds like the installer did not wind the roller spring enough. This is not something to "try" on your own, but a diffrent dealer that is willing to work on the unit should be able to fix it so the awning will stay on the trailer in the stored position.

You may want to ask some other vintage owners in your region who they trust to work on their traielrs and go there. BTW a globetrotter would need a 10 foot awning or so and I would guess it would run 1100.00 or so from a Zip dee dealer. Makes it worth trying to get yours repaired, huh?

Thanks Brett,

We have already spent far too much $$$ on this awning extravaganza. The price they quoted for an Acrylic/aluminum covered fabric awning was less than what they charged...$458.00 for the awning and $224.00 for install. OUCH!
This price is using all our existing hardware. The Service Mgr told me, they would order a vinyl replacement fabric and install it, "no cost to me", well the vinyl is cheaper! Who gets the excess cash, then, better be me!
So tomorrow, I'll take the Globetrotter in to them and tell them to remove their mistake (119 inches long) and charge back all $$$, and start over with ZipDee. We have ZipDee on our S.O.B. coach, and should have not "cheaped-out" with the Carefree and done it right in the first place.
