We have a
1967 20 ft Globetrotter with a battered, mildewed Carefree awning. We are unsure of the age of the awning, but I don't think it is as old as the trailer. Went to Caseys Recreational in Wheat Ridge, Colorado to have an Alumi-cover awning fabric installed with the existing hardware.
They sent me home with bolts missing and a note on the invoice stating the awning tube with the metal cover will not sit against the trailer body.
With the tube up in the air, the spring alone WILL NOT keep the tube from unrolling travelling.
Talking with Carefree, they don't make hardware for Airstreams older than 1969. No one told me that at the time I ordered the replacement fabric. And the service mgr at Casey's now tells me and Carefree they discrimniate against RV's that are older than 1980. They don't want the grief of anything above and beyond the mundane.
QUESTION: Does anyone know if ZipDee or A&E Awnings companies make replacement awnings/hardware for a 36 year old Globetrotter? The story is much more involved with "he said, she said, they said" scenarios, but I won't bore you.
Thanks
