Several wraps of duct tape work just fine too.

Since the red cover is only on the 'L' of the hooker, why or how does it keep one from scratching the AS skin? Mine fell off and I never replaced it. Hooker works fine. Yes, you can scratch the skin if you don't manage the stick while working the awning.

BTW, I use my Zip Dee hooker to do a lot of things around the camp like pulling the stab jack pads out, retrieving some bag or box from under the AS, and if your stinky slinky hides inside the black tube...well you know what I'm talking about.

We're from Vermont so of course the solution is hockey tape. Not slippery and grips well. Glad we finally got a small return for our investment in our kids' hockey dreams.....
