Here are some pictures of the street side awning on my 1991 Airstream travel trailer.Sometime between last summer and now (1/5/2015) the awning roller has no spring tension (won't roll back up on its own) and the end of the roller shaft appears to be coming out. It may be a broken spring or something else.
The folks at Zip Dee just said to drill out the four end rivets on the left end of the roller and take the roller apart. I'll do that once it warms up some here. But in the mean time, I'm just wondering if anyone on the forum has seen this sort of thing before.
Steve, Good pics.. I have not had one fail.. yet. The instructions i have read (because as I am usually a maintenance freak, I would like to plan ahead) ... and, since mine make really squeaky sounds during deploy and storing, I am suspicious it might be good planning to b aware and plan.... so, I am looking forward to the wind up...

I was just looking at some old threads that I started and didn't do anything to try to finish them up...especially if I had posted a question and was seeking an answer. It turns out that the torsion spring was broken and needed to be replaced. It's a pretty easy fix for those of you who have never done it. The online instructions from the Zip Dee folks are good for this procedure and their Customer Service guy is also helpful for over the phone help.
