Question Replacing awning fabric

I need to replace the fabric with Sunbrella or I see a bunch of vinyl replacements on ebay for about $110-150.

It's just under 18', is there anyplace to buy it all ready to go at reasonable price?

I can buy the Sunbrella fabric 46" wide for about $9 per lin yd.

I would need about 13-14 yards or about $140, then I need to have someone sew it up and put the bolt ropes in etc., not sure what that would cost?

Anyone ever sew one themselves?

For what brand awning?

Your Sunbrella fabric price sounds low. If you can get it for that price I would like to know where.

Bob,

I bought two awning fabrics last year from RV Awnings Online - Guaranteed Lowest Prices and they were very helpful.

I believe Bugler bought his from them too.

You may want to give them a call with the particulars of your awning system.

Regards,

Kevin

If it's the awning I saw in the other thread (duh! it should be), awning material for a Carefree/A&E should fit. I got the Carefree material for our EZ Awn, and it went right in with little trouble.

I got it from Bob's RV Salvage, in High Springs, Florida. Cost me $150 for a 16 foot awning fabric. Yes, it was new in the packaging.

I got our replacement fabric off of ebay- it was new fabric from a huge awning that had a small hole at one end. We only needed 14' of the 20', so I got it and brought it to a sewing shop that makes curtains and other larger fabric thingys. They cut off the end with the hole, and all was good. I think the fabric cost about $60, and the "fitting" about $40. It's just a rubber cord on each end (the "gimp") sewn in. It was surprisingly easy to replace the whole thing, but it was definitely helpful to have a friend there. A bit awkward with the big tube in the air... It's worked great for the last five years (did the torsion bars at the same time).

If I had gone with new fabric, tube, and torsions, it would have been about $1000.
