Replacement Fabric
I want to replace the vinyl on my original (73) Carefree awning. I contacted the company and they say they don't make the awning system anymore and seemed to push me away from replacement fabric based on awning structure that can't be replaced.
They also don't make a vertical stripe fabric anymore, just horizontals and fades.
Camping World sells Dometic, which are pretty much patterned the same way. I really don't want to wrestle with this replacement myself and want the original vertical stripe look.
Any suggestions?
Nick

I've seen them on Ebay. We picked ours up at www.rvawningsonline.com a few years ago.

You might be able to get a custom one done up. Hunt down a good boat shop, they can make anything out of canvas/vinyl material. Consider using Sunbrella material. That is what Zip Dee uses in most of their awnings.

I am in the same situation with the awning fabric for my 68. One of the sales people at PPL in Houston found a replacement with the vertical strips but could not find any where that would sew the short silver piece of fabric next to the trailer that makes it blend into the aluminum when rolled up like the original. I am going to by the fabric and have a local upholstery shop sew it. I did go to tent and awning company and they wanted as much for the fabric as I could have bought a new awning for. Keep us posted on anything you find and I will as well.

Try Vintage Trailer Supply. They carry the vertical awning fabric for older trailers

You'll be hard pressed to find one with vertical stripes off the shelf.
There is a used one listed in our classifieds that came off a 24' Argosy.
14' Carefree Awning - Airstream Trailer Classifieds - Airstreams Trailers For Sale
Many of the vintage awnings you see advertised are the rope, or pole awnings as arew the ones on the VTS website.
I don't know if she if she makes replacements for roll-up awnings but Airstream Forums - View Profile: Kristi Foster may be willing to help you.

The Sunbrella isn't waterproof enough for me. The vinyl at least lets you stay dry when it's raining!
