RELAX 12v AUTOMATIC AWNING RETROFIT KIT by Zip Dee for Main Awning

Thoughts on converting the existing Zip Dee manual curb side awning on my 2011 25FB International serenity, to the new 12v system found on new Airstreams.... It's a Retrofit Kit... you keep you the same roller, case and fabric you already have, and changing only the hardware on your vehicle, you can convert your Manual Zip Dee awning into a Relax 12v Automatic.

Cost is a consideration factor ... any idea as it is not shown on the site?

Based on my experience with Zip-Dee's past attempts at automating an otherwise fully functioning manual awning (they tried to use air cylinders in Bluebird and Prevost motorhomes years ago....and they were a dismal failure!)

I WOULD AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!!!!!

Of course, YMMV.

Don't know the cost, but the manual system works find. And I burn a few calories to deploy and stow!

Saw the ad in the current Airstream magazine. I confess it would be nice to push a button to deploy and recover the awning, but I'm guessing this is a VERY expensive "nice to have" ... will be interested in seeing the first post from someone who buys and installs it.

I'm thinking a $3500 bill will cover the retro.

Only question I have is, what will the repair schedule look like?

That is a $3,551 option on a built to order 2014 Classic.

Thank you for posting. My Classic is a 30 foot, I see yours is a 27 foot. I don't think there would be much of a difference between the two awnings.
That $3551. is that a retro or a complete change-out? (in other words, the cost of a new Zip-Dee awning PLUS $3551.)
Thanks

Considering it only takes a couple minutes to manually deploy an awning, and it is one more thing to stop working , I wouldn't even consider it.
Of course I am not a big fan of electric jacks either.

The trailer "order" price sheet lists the $3,551 price without specifying to which of the three Classic models it applies. Other model specific options note that fact in the "order" price list. Thus for that additional price, any ordered model Classic trailer comes with the curb side automatic awning.

This is not the spare parts or retrofit price.

My understanding is that additional supports are built into the trailer to support some pieces of this accessory and these supports are between the two skins.
