Receiving pieces for awning.

Thinking of buying a 77 Safari 23. I know it has no awning, and from the photos, it does not appear to have the pair of fittings on the exterior that receive the lower awning poles. Did some trailers come without these receiving pieces, and if so, can I add them and an awning?

Once upon a time awnings were optional, still may be as far as I know. Early awning slid into a round rail above the window and door line. They used poles tied down to keep it up. Not sure when roll out awnings became the norm. When you buy a new awning it should come with everything necessary to install.

Yes, if you buy a new awning it will come with those to install yourself, that way you can make sure they align correctly with the rest of the awning install. Does the trailer have the awning mounting rail already on the roof? That makes things a little easier. I used some large Olympic rivets from out of doors mart to attach those brackets on my trailer, they sell them individually, VTS sells them by the 100, which I think is more than anyone would need individually. The AS dealer in Covington should be help, also may be a good place to get the awning shipped to. For it's size it'll be commercial freight so it costs more delivering to home vs commercial address.

If no pcs. probably never had awning. The only awning I no manuf. for AS is Zip-Dee in my opinion best ever made for AS. Care free awnings no longer avbl. for AS because of curved arms, plus I don't no any else makes one w/curved arms for AS. Plus all mounting brackets etc. come w/awning. Give Zip-Dee call for pricing they very service oriented and stand behind there product. I do no that Zip-Dee started manuf. awnings in 1966 or 1967 as I had one of first made installed late 1967

I installed a A&E awning last year on my airstream. It was about 8 or 9 hundred with the metal protective wrap. A&E makes the curved arms for the Airstreams. It came with all the hardware.

A general awning question. Are rear window or curb side awnings only available from the factory or can they be dealer installed?

No matter what year or model if it came with the awning, you want to add one or need parts you need look no further than Awnings By Zip Dee

They only made two types for AS prior to 1989 and after 1989. There you can download PDF's that show all the parts with numbers. When you know what you want, use the how to order link!
Have fun.
