Yes, having the foldable step which becomes a table is excellent... if you are tall enough to reach the 'wheel'. My wife cannot reach that wheel when standing on the 'step' as suggested... Your Height May Vary.. ... =)
Have you considered a taller wife?

I use plastic snap open & snaps shut plastic 2 step stool that closes less than 2.5", allows me turn wheels by hand also much tighter, no hook, also hook scratched clear coat so only use rod to pull strap to open. The step stool I pur. on amazon.com, much better and lighter than alum. stools. Fits into closet against side wall as not bulky like other stools. Amazon.com stool Listed Range Kleen SS2 dble. step stool $24.99 w/free ship little pricey but no bulk to store, also holds up to 300 lbs.

I'm in the stepladder category... I carry a 4 foot aluminum one. It's tall enough to do whatever I might want to do while on the road. If it requires anything taller, I won't do it on the road...

-Red, ladder fan boy...
