Outside MATS??
I've been looking for a mat for under the awning. The woven poly ones seem to have some good features. I like the light weight and breathability. Anyone out ther have any feedback on real time use? Durability, etc. Thanks in advance. DG

Poly/Nylon Mats - woven or carpet type
Don't use them by a polished trailer...they will melt from the reflections & fry an egg!

Zip Dee
Check out the Zip Dee mats. Water runs right through them, and they let enouth sun light through that they will not hurt the grass under them.
We have used ours for two seasons and have nothing but praise!! Just keep it rolled up in a trash bag when we are not using.

Hey DG, we switched to this type and love it. Stays cleaner, fold up nice and small, sheds water, etc.
Highly recommended.

poor boy solution from Argosyland
looked around and couldn't decide on what the best features would be - so went to Home Depot and got their cheap astroturf like material. 12'x16' for about $60. Thought that getting something that was the least would help us identify what was important. It turns out to be just what we want. Washes off easily due to the fact that it is all plastic materials. The dogs like it. It is real light and when it gets rained on, it drys real fast because it doesn't absorb water. Washes off with a garden hose at home. We really haven't found anything we don't like except it is kind of thin and isn't very plush but we were into keeping the dust and dirt out of the trailer which it does nicely.

I certainly would not call this the "best" but we purchased 2 6X8 indoor/outdoor carpet pieces at Lowes for $15 each. They come in two colors, a blue-gray and brown and are available only in that size. They are very adequate from a surface standpoint but I don't expect them to win any longevity contests. We haven't used them on grass but expect that the result of a couple days on that surface will result in .....dead grass.

where to find the zip dee mats?
this isn't the first time I've heard about how great the zip dee mats are. When I googled it kept coming up with the awnings.

Check out Zip Dee's web site, they have a dealer listing, but I would call Zip Dee first and just ask where you can buy their outdoor mats.
Good luck! Here is the link: Awnings By ZipDee
The mats are under "Products" and are called "UltiMats"

I got ours at an RV show last spring. One thing I noticed, the more of a pattern the mat has the less durable it seems to be. They tend to unravel
(for what its worth)

We just purchased a nice woven mat from RV Awning Mats online. Looks nice and fits into small bag (included). We're going to test it at Casini, you'll have to check it out.

The woven poly mats are very durable and easy to clean (simply hose them off and let them dry out for an hour).

We were tied of replacing those cheap fiberglass mats at $60. every 2 years. this southwestern sun turns them into dust in one hot summer.-----Checked with Zip Dee --they are discontinuing their matts and only have a few sizes in stock. We bought a Colorado Carefree Mat. It is Bullit Proof ! Pricey but very nice. Check their web site------pieman

I guess I can give a park owner's perspective on mats: They're nice for guests, but our sites have an area near RV doors that seem to remain in a permanent state of death from light starvation.
