Newbie question re:awnings

Just got our '65 Globetrotter a few weeks ago, but no awning. It has the awning strip along the top so I assume this would be the type of awning that uses rods in the ground to support it? Where can I get a new awning like this, with all the hardware including supports?

I've seen photos of other similar vintage GT's that have a retractable awning with the arms that fold up. Did they come with either/or back then?

All awnings on Airstreams are aftermarket. They may be installed by The RV manufacturer, the RV distributor or by a previous owner.

Airstreams often are complimented with Zip Dee brand awnings.

Or you can buy them at re-sellers or maybe even a salvage yard.

Hi Jim,

Here's what we went with. Fairly inexpensive, and it gave us an idea if we liked a post & rope awning (we do!) We figure we'll eventually use this one as a pattern to make one out of Sunbrella fabric, and we can just continue to use the poles.
