More EZ-AWN info

Just got my 'recycled' EZ-AWN mounted and thought I'd post these pics since there doesn't seem to be a lot of info floating around about these old units.

I had to fabricate the brackets and shorten the tube and fabric to fit my trailer.

also ended up pre-loading the springs at about 4 rotations before it seemed to work right.

hope this helps.

I also did a retro fit.

I love the curved arms much better than zip dees, but you only took up 4 turns is that correct?

How long is the awning?

the awning tube is just under 16'. and now that I've had a chance to use it, I think I may back off to 3 turns each (pre-loading the springs).

I helped a friend replace the fabric on his carefree (70's model) and we tried several different numbers before realizing that it needed to be installed with no tension (when in closed position/up against the camper). it tensioned as we pulled it out, and retracted fine? tried that on this EZ-Awn first but it needed help gettting back to the closed position with a nice tight roll.

what did you end up with?

I agree these look so much better than the Zip Dee, you havn't got the piece you cut off have you? I,ve got one that's a bit short on the tube.

I used the drops for an inside sleeve to re-enforce the tube. it was cut in the center and had to be welded back. long story. happy ending.

show me a picture of what you need (with a ruler or measuring tape and I can probably get you a scrap of just about any size if you think shipping it to UK would be worth it).
