Loose awning brackets

All 4 of my awning brackets are loose. I've tried a bit larger lags but can't get bigger than the bracket holes and they are still loose. Posts I have read say to rivet new skin over stripped holes and drill and mount to new skin . I hate to add holes to my skin. Is this the only way to fix the loose brackets? I was wondering if there was some internal frame member to tap in to? Would it be same procedure to remount the bottom brackets too?
