I have a deluxe carefree awning but am missing the upper support arms. Does anyone know where I could get them or any ideas on fabricating replacements?
Nor do they have awnings that will "CORRECTLY" fit other Airstreams. All to many owners have tried, and when they find out that the arms stick way out, Carefree says, "TO BAD, YOU ALREADY INSTALLED IT!!!!!!" Or, they will tell you that Airstream installed the awning rail incorrectly.
We did battle ROYAL with them several years ago about improper fit, and they havn't change yet.
The moral of the story, if you buy a Carefree and attempt to install it, they WILL NOT take it back.
We lucked out by having a large national distributor of RV parts go to bat for us.
Many years ago, when Gene Upton owned Carefree, they did fit correctly. But that was some 30 years ago. He sold the company and since then it's not been the same. Their gal national sales manager, must have studied the encyclopedia Brittanica, as she knows everything, about everything. She was the person who said "Airstream doesn't know how to properly install the awning rail!!!!!"
WOW. So how come A & E and Zip Dee's fit???
Looking for a unique way to put up awning lights. Thought of using light tape with adhesive strip to hold it to the awning roller, but not sure if this will cause a problem when rolling up.
What are some good awning lighting systems in use out there that are unique enough to hang from an A/S?
