connecting a awning frame to the trailer body

I have the frame work for a rope and pole type awning that came with my 1959 flying cloud. I would like to have fabric made to fit it but I'm not sure how to assemble it and attach it to the trailer.
The pieces seem to go together as shown in picture one. There is a cross piece with two vertical poles and then there are three poles that go from the cross pole back to the trailer roof.
Picture two shows the fitting for the two vertical poles and picture three is the fitting that looks like it should attach at the awning rail.
It has a flattened end with a little hook on it. I don't see how it connects to anything.
Does anyone have one similar to this? Thanks in advance, Stan.
