I use a solution of bleach, dish detergent and water. Spray it on or brush it on with a long handled brush, let it sit for a few minutes, rinse well, and dry really well. You can even roll your awning up with the solution on it to let it sit if it's a dry day, so the awning stays wet. Wear OLD clothes you don't care about, though, because if you get it on your clothes, you'll have bleach spots. It'll get rid of the mold spots. Unfortunately, you may still have a shadow after it's all clean, depending on how long the mold has been sitting there.
