Question Canopy Trouble

When closing up our canopy awning last year, the pull tab wound up inside the hard enclosure. Any suggestions on how to get the awning open without the pull tab or any other handle to pull on?
All help and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I assume you have a Carefree, A&E or Zip-Dee awning...

If you have two people and can put each on a step ladder at each end of the awning tube, you could release the mechanism so that it is in "deployment" mode, and then each of you manually twist the ends of the awning tube to unroll it until the webbing is visible. Alternatively, a single person ought to be able to do essentially the same thing from the middle of the awing tube, just by reaching up under the roll and pulling while rotating to make it manually unroll.

good luck!

If 2 people 1 on each arm and manually pull awning out until pull strap is visible, then 1 person hold onto arm, other person get hold of strap and pull open, if 1 person can not hold open enough to grab strap just pull little further to release some of tension [with this method no ladder os stools needed just reach high as can on arms]. Then usually 1 person can get hold of strap with [Zip-dee hook] while both are holding onto arms. If only 1 person get stool or step ladder then try to get hand under awning at strap point and fish for it then pull, but it is very hard to do, lots easier w/2 people. I have had happen to me by 1 time by weaving strap back and forth to much while closing had to get help w/another person on other arm could not do by fishing at center. [Addition] 2 people can usually pull awning fully open.
