Awnings for Road Side and Back (16' CCD)

Hi:
I'm thinking about adding awnings to the road side and back of my 16' CCD. I'm looking for inputs from anyone who has experience with this kind of project. Did it help keep the trailer cooler, was it hard to do, where did you find the awnings, was it a worthwhile addition?

The 16' CCD has only the 2 small port hole windows on the roadside that don't open, so I'm wondering if it makes a noticeable difference? There is a rail along the roof line - is this provided in antiicipation of adding an awning, or just to divert rainwater?

Appreciate hearing any ideas or suggestions - thanks!
Bob

i have the 25' International CCD. i'm going to do the same thing. i tried to call and order on friday, but they had left for the long weekend (good for them). i have a 16' curbside awning, and i'm going to have the street side installed with a 16' awning but window lenght on the pull out. also going to do the rear, window lenght, 4' wide. you can check out the sunbrella page for fabrics, they have a zillion http://www.sunbrella.com/cgi-bin/usa...l?B=S&W=46&P=1 . i'm going for #4765 OMBRE - DARK BROWN / SALMON BEIGE. next on the wish list, i'm going to install the glassmat batteries and the solar panels...

Thanks for the reference to the site with the fabrics. Is your Airstream dealer going to do the installation?

Hi Guys,

I just did the same thing on my 19CCD. The street side awning rail is already there, so it's not a big job to install it. You have to add one to the rear for that window awning.....but that's not a big job either. I would offer to get the awnings for you as I'm an authorized Zip-Dee dealer, but it would not be very nice to show up at your dealer with the awning in hand, just to have them do the install.

I do offer a 'Forum Courtesy Discount' though if you want to do the job yourself.
