Awning Repair - Need Suggestions.

After reading the Zip Dee "price Increase" notice, posted by Andy, I was reminded that maybe I need to do a better job repairing a little slit in my patio awning.

I'm off on my maiden voyage of full-timing and when I rolled out my awning yesterday, I accidentally poked a small hole in it with the center support arm . It's a small slit about 3/4 inch long, hardly noticable. Right now, I have taped it from the underside with a small piece of duct tape.

Is there a simple and better solution? Thanks, Bill

You could try an "Iron-On" Patch and then stitch the edges, or 'darn' it as used to be done with socks (before the were all made in China).

Repair it with sail tape...like for a sailboat.
Is made from Dacron, lasts forever.
Or, put a grommet there, say it is a rain drain hole.

I use dental floss (waxed or unwaxed, flavored or not...your choice) for all my sewing repairs. Apply seam sealer if you desire.

Or, send it back to ZD. They will remove and replace only the bad panel.

That "sail tape" sounds like the way to go. Now, I just need to get by a Marine Supply Store, somewhere. Thanks for the info. Bill

If there is any chance the slit will grow, now is the time to stop it before it becomes worse.
