Awning Patterns by Year

Is there a record anywhere of what Sunbrella pattern was used for each year? I have been talking to an awning maker and they do a good deal of pole awnings for vintage airstreams. They said that they had no knowledge of what was used when. Others have said that ZipDee tries to match pattern with year, but I can't believe that every year was Pacific Blue Fancy.

So what Sunbrella pattern did they use on the 1968 models?

I Don't Know

...But I was sure happy to find that Vintage Trailer is offering awnings for Airstreams.
I do think that the vintage awnings were stripes which were perpendicular to the coach. The contemporary ones are of course horizontal to the coach.
Vintage Airstream advertising might feature awnings in the ads, or perhaps some older sales brochure, if you can find them.
I think at this juncture, one goes with what one wants or likes. I just ordered one from VintageTrailer in Florence Green. http://www.vintagetrailersupply.com/...ctCode=VTS-400
The RalphLauren andarondac(?sp) AS is simply a black tarp, maybe a waxed canvas, with a couple of turned wood poles.
Have fun with whatever you decide on.

Here is the site InsideOut sent us to last year who will be making out awing.
http://www.awning-tent.com

Possible Sunbrella fabric choices
http://www.awning-tent.com/products/sunbrella1.html

So many choices, so few airstreams to choose for.

I didn't see an option on that website for just purchasing the fabric. Does anyone have a source to share for buying Sunbrella fabric?

Here ya go...

http://www.outdoorfabrics.com/index.asp

That's is where I bought the coordinating fabric I used to make the awning bags, door cover, etc. I used the solid color #4623 - Aquamarine to match my Zip Dee chairs, the stripe for the window awnings I ordered with the pole awning itself from the tent & awning folks linked above so it would be the same dyelot. The door cover (first photo) is to keep from melting the carpet (post #35) on sunny days and to serve as a "mailbox" for notes & such when we are away.

And yes, we do take it down & put it up each time we want to use it. After a few times it becomes routine and I can put it up, by myself, in about ten minutes. We have a little bench from Home Depot that we use as a step stool, seat, table polishing platform and it folds up pretty flat. The multi-function bench is shown in the second picture ~

Another idea - we don't carry a ladder, but if we have room next to the Safari in the campsite, we back the truck next to it and then stand in the bed of the truck to install the awning. Once the awning's in the rail, the truck gets pulled back out in front of the trailer.

i was just looking at some literature that came w/ my tt from zip dee. it is a sales brochure w/ a 1978 copyright. it shows all kinds of colors and patterns available, from solids to stripes to multiple stripes, reds, greens, browns, oranges. i would suspect blue was the main choice for airstreams to match the side marker. there may be patterns for certain years but, you'll probably go crazy researchin' that.
i have two brochures i think the one i mainly refer about is probably from 75' but no copyright. i send pics but have no means.

regards
dan
