Awning Lift Handle
At the recent Texas Vintage Rally, one of the owners showed me a pair of Zip Dee Awning Lift Handles she had bought on Ebay for $25. I looked when I returned home but could only find then for $39.95 list price. I decided I could make some myself. I went on Ebay and found a set of four 1"x1"x8" aluminum bars and went to the hardware store and got 1" aluminum strap and stainless screws and locking nuts. A friend who also owns an AS worked with me and we made two sets for the price of one. See attached photo. The only tricky part was locating the hole for the mounting screw. If it is too far down the handle, it won't open far enough. If it is too close to the end, then the handle will not catch the lift arm as the handle is rotated out to the operating position. We located ours so they work just fine.
