Howdo Trailer Mates,
I have a
1964 Tradewind with an A&E awning.
The upper LH bracket broke a couple of years ago, as seems to be case with these brackets. No problem I'll replace it I thought and I did manage to find an acceptable replacement.
But the problem is, the original bracket itself was just bolted into the trailer skin (!?) which did not seem to me to be particularly good design.
I tried to use self tapping bolts into the original holes, but that's not going to work.
Does anybody know the correct way of attaching the bracket to the trailer ?
The feet of the new bracket look as though they should slide into something ?
I am close to just welding the new bracket (aluminim) onto a 10" square doubler plate and riveting the plate directly on the skin.
Any top tips ? (Apart from ditch it and buy a zipdee. . . )
Thanks
Mike
