Awning

Can anyone identify this awning frame on my 1969 Safari? It has no maker marks and appears to be made of galvanized pipe.

Hi Carl:

It looks like the E-Z AWN TRAILER AWNING that appears in the early 1970s Wally Byam Stores catalogs, the "ultimate roll up awning famous for traditional quality and preferred on leading coaches" like your 1969 Safari. I have no further information on the E-Z Awn company, as these awnings were purchased through the Wally Byam Stores, long since out of business. Good luck in your search!

Fred, I have the identical awning on our 1963 Overlander. I THOUGHT it was a Care-Free, now I know better.

Terry:

To my eye, your awning looks different than Carl's. His uses a small diameter round tube for its framework whereas yours has larger oval/rectangular legs and arms. The operation and appearance may be similar, but the components on yours look a lot heavier than on Carls. I don't think yours is a E-Z AWN.

Overlander I'll ask you the question although I think I know the answer. Do you know where I can find hardware for an E-Z awning? I need something to keep it closed up when it is stored in the traveling position. I think I can still get the awning and roller as replacements. Thanks Carl
