Airstream parts supplier questions

I just received an email from High Sky RV Parts in Longbranch WA. Anybody heard of them? I am wondering if they are the same group that were in Utah.

They were the notorious “Silver Trailer Supply” until recently. Not sure if they are under new ownership but they seem to have really stepped up their marketing game and may be trying to rehabilitate their image. Looking forward to hearing reports from recent customers, especially if it involves needing customer service.

That was my thoughts as well. The website looked very similar to the Silver Trailer Supply that was in Utah. Hopefully one of the members here is able to give us some input into the company. I have been looking for a new awning as mine was stolen when the trailer was in storage, prior to me purchasing.

I would totally trust his information given what he has done.... So maybe the fox is in the hen house and trying to put on a new costume?...or in my language lipstick on the pig.

If Scott has hesitation, then I most certainly would hesitate. He knows where to look for his restoration projects absolutely in my opinion.

I would much rather deal with Out of Doors Mart. They've been absolutely fantastic to work with. I am pretty sure there are a number of equally excellent suppliers to deal with that others could mention.

I made a inquiry to Silver Trailer Supply aka:Sky High RV Parts a number of years ago and it was a disaster from hello. I decided to pay a bit more and go elsewhere after that exp. Post purchase elsewhere, I read all the horror stories on this and various social review/input sites about STS/SHRVP. To me, it was just not worth it and given my exp alone, I would not do business with them, let alone the novels written by others and their exp with them.

I have bought some drawer pull handles from High Sky this summer. I received the parts, they were as expected, and High Sky was the only one that had exactly what I needed. The only odd thing was that the credit card purchase included a foreign transaction fee. When I went to use my credit card it changed me to a different site, completed the transaction and then returned me to High Sky. I'm happy to have the part and would consider them for future purchases.

Airstream parts supplier questions

Interesting about the credit card. They were probably cut off by domestic financial institutions due to a massive number of chargebacks, and found some way to route the money offshore.

Airstream parts supplier questions

To me, a “domestic” supplier that pushes a credit card transaction outside the country is very sketchy indeed. It would make it a lot harder to solve an issue or get a refund.

If this is what they are doing, they are off my supplier list again...not that they ever were on it through all the other name changes. That was suspicious enough.

Run Away. Worst reputation ever when he was in SLC, both as a parts supplier (Silver Trailer Supply) and a dealer. Airstream gave him the boot with the nonsense he was pulling. (The new dealer, Airstream of Utah, is an experienced RV dealer and has an excellent reputation.)

Thanks Shari!! Never spotted that on the website before. Answers all my questions. Will have to see a lot of "positive" reviews on this site before I purchase from them. Tried once years ago with very limited luck. Thank you, Chris.

You know it's bad when they have such a captive audience (us all) and the company has to keep changing its name, location, and doing business as.

I REALLY wanted those handles. They fit into cutouts in the doors under our L-couch. It would have been a pain to switch to something else. A previous owner had tried to fix one of them with some kind of glue.

The part numbers matched and it was exactly what I needed. I would do it again if I needed an exact match. I've had my card compromised before and my FCU has been very helpful in getting the charges reversed from my account. The International charge was small and I have my handles.

Sky High RV Parts scam

I attempted to place an order for Airstream parts with Sky High RV Parts. Fortunately my bank alerted me that the transaction was coming from China and was suspicious. Spread the word. The parts are sky high since you never receive them.

Virtually all hardware used in Airstreams is NOT unique to Airstream. Windows, logos and badging, etc. You do need OODM, but for handles, drawer pulls, odd hinges and even radiused corner laminated hardware, you can find many things IF you go beyond the limits of Amazon and Google - and even those two will give up their hidden treasures - if you go to page 7 or higher on the results.
YouTube is also a good place to find weird stuff.

I received the parts I ordered from them, handles for the storage door under my L-couch. There was an additional fee for currency exchange but I had no problem with the order. This was last August and VISA did not give me any warning when I placed the order. I ordered on 8/15/19 and they were shipped on 8/19/19. They provided a USPS tracking number and I received exactly what I ordered. They were the only place that could match the existing handles.

Unless you have a personal bad experience with them I don't think it's good to spread false information based on a warning about a purchase in a foreign country.
