1968 30' soverign

Hi folks. Installing a new awning on this old rig and can't seem to find the thread on how to wind the springs, number of turns, does one spring wind CW and one CCW?

Saw where Andy said the length was exactly 21' but my awning tract is only about 18' 6"? Maybe he was referring to a 31' footer?

Any good resources for the hardware? My arms are "curved" but I'm missing the 2 smaller support arms that stabilize the main curved arms. Thanks for any assistance.
Great resource and wonderful members. Jim

Assuming this is a Zip Dee awning... The directions I got from Zip Dee say to wind the spring in a clockwise direction seven turns, then one turn for every foot of length. For example, a 21 foot awning would be 28 turns. Hope this helps. Be very careful as you wind. If that thing slips after you get it wound tight, it'll beat you to death...

Thanks for the info. It's slowly coming back to me in bits/pieces. I don't think it's a Zip Dee but an old carefree type awning. Not sure if that makes a difference but it probably does! I remember somewhere on here that it was about that many turns but the springs were wound in opposite directions. The end caps on the tube have arrows marked back/front with a long arrow pointing in opposite directions. Thanks again and I'll keep searching. Jim
