I polished my first AS but that was only 27 ft.
Now for the 32 I have striped the clearcoating and it already looks a lot better.
I got myself a set of gords polish, I tryed it on the propane tank covers and it seems to work OK
But a 32 is a lot of trailor to polish, and I know how much work I had on the 27.
The Big Q would you polish again?

I have about 10- 12 more hours left to finish my "first cut" I have spent over 120 hours so far. Once it is done, I will not do it again.

I polished a small section of my 1948 Boles Aero. It has been 3 or 4 years since then and that section looks almost like the unpolished majority now. In a few more years the whole thing will look PERFECT if I just leave it alone.
If someone would like to polish my Safari I wouldn't stop them, but you can be sure I wouldn't keep it up.
As I have said before, my trailer and I are both getting old(er) and we both look the part.

I say No Way! And I didn't even do the work the first time My trailer was polished when I bought it. I have toyed with the idea of shining it back up, but then I would have to maintain that shine again. Right now it is five years weathered since it was polished, and I think it looks just about perfect. I guess if it starts looking ratty I might have to pay someone to polish it and clearcoat it, but unless I win the lottery, I don't see that happening!

Ours has a clearcoat and WE DO NOT want to polish. We wash it only. Now we wonder should be do more? On a recent rally there was a clearcoat that looked neat.
They wash and Wolborize. Do you Wolborize? On the container we purchased it says: NOT recommended for clearcoat. Would you Wolborize? Aria

Yes, I'm on the second one now. First picture is of our 1965 Caravel and the next 2 pictures show our 1955 Safari, plan to polish the outside and the inside of the 1955 to a mirror finsh..............toastie

I havent even thought about doing a touchup polish until recently. Its been 3 years since I polished it and still think I can feel the pain. I have the luxury of having it stored inside when not in use. But it still needs to be done again. Im getting ready to do it again. Without a doubt im going to invest some big money into a easier tool to do the job. Im willing to spend 50 hours but not 200 again. I just saw a picture of myself where most of the oxidation ended up on my face and clothes. Maybe I will wait another year. Ive ben camping once a month for a while now and am having much more fun camping with it than working on it. But I do miss blinding everyone on the road.

It's a lot of work, but also teaches patience and persistence...wax on/wax off.....zen like. A nicely polished trailer is definitely a thing of beauty. Especially after the pain subsides. I do it because I like the way it looks and feels, more so than to entertain others in campgrounds. Polishing and protecting the polish job also protects the aluminum skin.

Polishing is on-going for me. I choose the one or two panels that need it most, and polish them. I never try to do the whole trailer at one time. I will see the difference in panels, but most others looking, see the whole trailer, not a panel or two that might not be quite as bright as the others.

I use the Nuvite/cyclo method. I apply a coat of Mother's carnuba wax, taking it off with the cyclo. It dulls the finish slightly, but it still looks nice and is very easy to keep clean.

Maxwell is actually overdue for a touch-up - Birdy has been getting all the attention the last year and a half ~ his turn is coming...

I left a question on another thread "Stripping clear coat" about what I should do with my 74 Land Yacht. It is showing white "splotches" through the clear coat and I had to cover it with a tarp to stop a leak last winter and it has left some kind of residue or marks. (The leak is fixed now) I've tried rubbing compound and it shines it up a little but does not remove any spots. It sounds like a lot of work to polish it after stripping so I'm not sure that is the route I want to go. Lazy I quess. What can I do?
