Why do you have to polish!?

My new 30# aluminum tank from VTS just came in. My wife asked why I've not installed it yet. So I reply, "I have to polish it." She says, "you HAVE to polish it!?" My reply: "What kind of question is that!" LOL

Anyone else understand my obsession?

Thats funny. So looks like you got the tank with the gauge.... Are you using the tank level indicator inside the coach?

I've read alot about how those that have the inside level indicator say they dont work, and they dont bother trying to fix them.

However, I've had my eye on those, since I have re-wired and going to install the See Level with LPG tank indicator. Curious if you have any experience with them and their reliability?

Seems like I read the old style were flawed, but these from Vintage have the separate float switch and hoping they work like they're supposed to.

Thanks!
Micky

Interesting thread to follow. Especially regarding the gauge. I'd love to see how they polish up and what your experience is with the gauge. Make sure to post pics of your progress and how they look mounted!

Anyone else have the remote gauge who can show what that looks like?

Sure. It's kind of like asking my wife why she irons pillow cases.

I really hope it works like it's supposed to! It was a $60 upgrade! It came with both the remote gauge and a regular one. It was a simple two screw change to swap to the manual (which I will use).

I do like a shiny trailer...but there's something I like better than a shiny trailer though: Going places.

Our trailer could sure use another shine. Haven't found the time to polish our tanks. We did find time to visit 28 states in 2015 though.

Beautiful! How many hours a year do you have to put in to keep up the shine?

I have the OEM tank with the separate float indicator. It worked great, until I had to update the tank with the new OPD valve. Sometimes the two floats interfere with one another and hang-up. I have to manipulate/shake/tip the tank, sometimes for awhile, in order to free up the gauge float. It may be the way the propane guy inserted the new OPD valve and the orientation of the its float. Maybe the ones from Vintage will not have that problem.

It is an installation problem. One of mine was hanging up from the factory. I had a propane service center correct and my system has never had a problem and is accurate, both at the tank gauge and the indoor monitor.
