Which soap do I need to use ??

we make a trip FROM north to south florida and want to clean the AS to prevention the corosion and rust !!!!


I didnt have any ideal witch soap to use to realy clean it !!!

Sorry, couldn't resist....any automotive wash would be fine. I've used Dawn dish soap on areas with road grease.

I tend to not use dish soap. I was told it removes any wax on. Try a gentle auto wash solution, they are meant to easy on the wax. But it does do a good job!

To be clear, Dawn was only for those grease/oil spots flipped up off the road.

OP, if you're travelling through salt from way up north, I'd be tempted, once you get out of the salt areas to stop and use a semi truck wash service. I've read here that they do a good job. I'd be also tempted to (prior to going to a truck wash place) hosing it down really well at a coin car wash, being careful to manage your nozzle distance (high pressure = not good for seams) and really flood the underside and get the majority of the salt off with plenty of plain water.

I've used Blue Beacon numerous times on TT and TV. Tell man who comes out to meet you that you want attention to underside. Alkaline wash only. Care around any openings.

Online app location guide. Usually next to major truck stops. I normally have to wait an hour in line. And then another 30 to get out of there.

You'll spend more time and not do as good a job at a coin wash.

$35-50 or so. Pass some cookies or water out to workers. It's a hard days work.

I won't go to the Blue Beacon any more. The last time they got to close to the trim where the wall meets the banana wrap? belly pan? and messed it up- blasted the shiny chrome part off-
I guess I'll just have to wash it myself with car wash soap.

It is important to instruct them on exactly what one wants. I should have been more emphatic in this. In defense it is that I use BB several times monthly for the work truck and am accustomed to the many options and procedures. Some locations are better than others. So ask for the manager. Those guys are VERY good at what they do.

In example I had my anodized skin Silver Streak hit with their buffered acid and then alkaline washed. This is called two stepping. Took years of minor mineral buildup off.

I also walked around and talked to the crew individually to be sure windows, the four belt lines and stickers were not to be hit with high pressure.

Don't worry about how long the line behind you may be. This service is expensive for everyone and washing one of our rigs takes nowhere near the time that some others will demand. Drivers expect to wait. Some will be grateful.

So find the manager , extend some kindness to the crew and watch from outside the bay. Stop the crew leader if you are concerned.

The money vs results is very high. I can spend more than a day trying to replicate a BB wash and still not succeed. Their chemical knowledge is deep.

For an on-road wash it is very hard to beat. And getting ice chemicals off should be a priority.

It is hard to watch all those guys with wands and hoses and go in and settle up. I guess I need to get them in a huddle like a football team and debrief them all at once-

A Blue Beacon with 2 wash bays is slightly more relaxing.
I can wash the trailer at work with a hot water pressure washer in a shed on concrete. That's what I'll do from now on.

Hot water is outstanding, no question. But knowledge of chemicals is the BB advantage. Pressure itself is optional, really only for reaching underside.

I've talked some with EaCo Chemical as they have products for anodized. More on that another day. But if I had clearcoat aluminum I'd have to find what was best. The best chemicals make dirt and grime jump off the surface. And I'd use a brush before I used high pressure.

I keep trying different automotive car wash soaps. They all seem to work about the same. I'll second Bob's recommendation for Mop on a stick. Been using it from Griots for about the last three years. I always keep the trailer waxed...about twice a year. I do the roof first then I start with a fresh bucket of soap and do the trailer itself. Then I do a final rinse with deionized water. Then I drive to the storage yard which is about 6 miles away to air dry. When I get there I hit the few wet spots with a clean micro fiber towel...virtually spot free. Takes me only about an hour.

DI-120 Cr Spotless Water System on Amazon. Works great but no you don't really need it. Bought it for a car I had, now just use it on the A/S
