Cool Wax after compounding?????

Spring is almost here and I can’t wait to get started on the final polishing of my Airstream.
Need some advice on what to do with the finish after the final compounding is completed.
I found last year that using mounted foam pads saved me hours and hours of work; much faster than the wool bonnets. And I only used two pads for the whole 27 footer.
This spring I’ll use new pads an orbital buffer and C-7 to finish it up.
But I need advice as to what to do for the maintenance during the year. I thought about using Mequires car wax to give it a protective coating.
Does anyone have any ideas or recommendations?

Since you mentioned C-7, I assume you're using the Nuvite products. Read their literature. They don't recommend anything over the finished polish. Reason being that you WILL polish again and the wax (or whatever) will probably not be entirely gone causing you problems with the next polish job. Are you planning to polish with finer compound later? Curious why you would stop with the C-7 instead of continuing to finer grade.

Unfortunately I can't polish my CCD, but I have polished many an aluminum wheel on my now sold 40' Monaco Dynasty MoHo. I found a great polishing combo from.......ALCOA of all people. You would think if they make the aluminum, they should know how to polish it!

You don't have to use their polishing compounds, but they do make a final finish that is a clearcoat of sorts but not in the true sense. It doesn't provide a plastic-like top layer, but chemically bonds in with the aluminum to retard tarnish and oxydation. It comes right off with the next round of polishing too. It made the polish on the MoHo wheels last about 6 months. Check the Alcoa web site for more info.
