Washing exterior

I have a 2010 International and wanted to know what the best wash the exterior? Is their a special product or can we just use hot-soapy water? I have washed it with regular soap and water in the past and it has left so blotchy spot on my rock guards.

Thank you for the help!

I have been told on here to wash your airstream like you would a car. Same soap. It has a clear coat finish. We have the same year.

Rock guards are stainless steel and act differently from the rest of the surface. I clean it and polish it with WD 40. You could use a stainless steel cleaner and polish, but I've always got plenty of WD 40.

IMHO....none of the famous "bird washing soap".. washes away any wax or walber you may have applied.

Good mild car wash soap with a microfiber mitt works well, don't scrimp on the rinse.

Just do not use dish soap it will strip the wax of (If you have waxed it which you must) a good mild automobile soap will work great.

Griot's Paint Sealant works for us. Lasts a year. It has polymers in it. Polymers are really little people who keep polishing through the year.

Other companies make similar products, but this has worked for us and is much superior than old fashioned waxes. Periodically you can wash off the dirt and use Griot's Spray on Wax to touch it up, or not.

Griot's is online and once you buy something from them, they will send you catalogs to the end of time. Lots of nice goodies in the catalog.

Use a mild automobile soap available at any auto parts store.Wax is your preference,I use a good grade of carnuba wax as it is very durable.Everyone has there own opinion on this.I wax my Airstream with the same wax I have used on many Ferrari's and Lamborghini's over the years.Carnuba works great.

Wash and Wax

Here is my four step method for washing and waxing the Airstream. The key is to keep it clean and waxed no matter what brand product you choose.

1. Meguiars Deep Crystal Car Wash.

2. Rejex thin film polymer coating.

3. Alcoa heavy duty polish for wheels.

4. Aerospace 303 protectant for tires and all rubber door and window seals.

Don't forget to keep the white roof clean and polished to prevent white streaks and degradation of the finish
