Seems all the clear coat is gone or maybe this trailer did not have any have not found any yet. From top of windows up was really rough with corrosion so wet sanded lots of water and 600 grit and little pressure smoothed it out with very little marks. Then buffed with pads from HF. Used mothers mag and aluminum polish with lots of mineral spirits and rags.
Made another trip to HF for more pads and nitrite gloves been 3 days and still have not gotten hands clean. Going to try and do another pass before heading to vintage rally next weekend.

First attempt to polish

Hey guys,
going to start the polish process on mine. It's been polished before when I acquired it in 2013. Any recommendations on which compound to use and at what level of effort I need with a polisher to get all of these swirls and scratches out? I'm afraid to use the wet sanding approach of 600/800 grit that others mention, simply because I haven't done it before and don't know what i'm getting in to on it. Thanks!

LOL - If there was ever a definition of a "slippery slope", this is it!

That looks great handyman! Your done with the hardest part now. The lower panels seem easier... Not as much stretching up. It doesn't look like you have a clear coat which is a blessing. When we got our 1979, the clear coat had failed on top and some down the sides but stripping what was left was not a fun task. i actually enjoy the polishing stages, even on our 31'. Missed it so much, I am now working on a 1950 22' :O
