Touching up shiny finish

My trailer was highly polished a year and a half ago when I bought it. Since then I have kept it relatively shiny, except for one lower panel I completely clouded up messing with it.
My question is this, trying to maintain the high polish, I found using Cyclo and Nuvite S works best. But I still get very tiny black dots in pores and some streaks that are hard to get out.
I am using a cyclo and hand polishing. Wiping down with mineral spirits and all.

How do you with fairly shiny trailers maintain them?

your on the right track

a Cyclo, Nuvite C and S (as required) micro fiber cloths and corn starch to get rid of the black...instead of the mineral spirits.

I also use the micro fiber towel and dry corn starch. I just dab the towel into a cup full of corn starch and then wipe it on and off. This should get rid of the black spots in the pores and around the rivet heads. I also think using mineral spirits take away the polishing from the Nuvite. Hope this helps

thanks a lot. I also used to have product called Purple Polish aluminum deoxidizer. I used it sucessfully on a classic Motorhome to cut off haze. Might try that on the tough spots.

corn starch

Thanks, the black is tuff to get off and I have tired everything, including mineral spirits, soap and water, buffing, and even Crud Buster which got it off but seemed to etch the metal - don't try it. If it works you will have made my day, week, month, etc.

I actually ordered a product I have used a long time ago on my Motorhome and previous trailer. Aluminum Deoxidizer from Cal Customs. Its a green liquid you wipe on then put a small amount of polish over it. It works well, there is almost no black residue to clean up.
I hope to get to use it on large areas soon, the spots I tried cleaned up quickly. It may be the ticket for what I need to do.
Will post the results.

It came to me a lot shinier than it is now However I feel obliged to keep it pretty while it is in my ownership.

I've got the same problem. Looking forward to learning about your results with the Cal Customs product...

Good luck!

I ordered the deox liquid, and on a small area it does seem to cut through the haze. I will have to wait a bit for cooler weather if we get any to really give it a try, the mid 90s are a bit much for polishing.

A company that makes an aluminum spray cleaner/dexodizer is letting me try their product to review. As soon as I get it i will check it out and give you all the scoop.

Application

Alan...I talked with customer service at cal custom today regarding the aluminum deoxidizer and polish. But absently forgot to ask about he application. Didn't find anything on their website. Is the polish put on with buffer or by hand? By the way, their customer service department went out of their way to send a sample. Will be anxious to give it a try. Our "78" has not been polished but the clearcoat has been removed. Wouldn't it be great to have a product that you just spray/wipe on and bingo...shiny trailer. Wishful thinking.

Bob

you apply the deoxidizer with a cloth soaked in it, do not let it dry or wipe it off, then you apply the purple polish immediately after. Please, let us know what you think about this product. It did a great job on my freshly strippped Classic motorhome a few years ago.
Not mirror shiny but very nice.

I am assuming the spray aluminum cleaner will help with an oxidized already polished finish, at least I hope so. I have used automotive windshield cleaner to help shine it some and that works somewhat.
