Removing Tree Sap Oxidation?

According to the Previous Owner, he parked our 1970 Caravanner Under a tree for a number of seasons. Tree Detrius and sap landed on the skin and encouraged oxidation. (see attached). Best recommendations for cleaning prior to buffing and polishing?

I've searched here and haven't found a thread quite adressing this topic. Any help is appreciated.

Is the sap still present? A solvent should remove it, then just go with the polishing project as planned. If there is clearcoat present it will need to be removed before polishing.

We always used rubbing alcohol on our old cars. It worked well for us.

I've always been able to remove just about anything with WD40 and it doesn't seem to effect the clear coat. I know that the Mother ship recommends it for removing the glue from theWBCCI decals and I've used it to that purpose. Give it a try. It's also good for arthritis of the knee or polisher's elbow.
