removing roof coating

Does anyone know how to remove a painted on roof coating ? It was done by a PO who had no idea what he was doing . The coating was allowed to run down the side . I would like to remove this coating without taking the clearcoat off if possible . thanks

You would have to find out exactly what material the roof coating is. Then find out what material the clear coat is.
Now you could theoretically find a solvent that would attack the roof coating, not the clear coat.
However, on a 1975 model trailer, chances are that the clear coat is already blemished. Might be best to strip everything and then re-coat it with clear coat.

You could try masking the top paint and use fine sand paper to remove most of the paint. Repaint it with white paint to keep it cooler inside. That way you would have a nice roof without having to strip the clear coat. Ya know, once you start on the clear coat your gonna do the whole rig.
