Removing Numbering on my Trailer
Newbie here... With what might be a silly question!
I have just acquired my first Airstream Bambi and I'm not sure what the large red numbers are, that are on the front of back of my Bambi.
Were these originally lot numbers?
Do I really need them, or can I remove them?

They are probably the previous owners WBCCI member number (WBCCI = Wally Byam Caravan Club International, an Airstream owners club).
You can do anything you want with your Airstream, up to and including belt sanding off the numbers. Or, if you want to join the WBCCI, you can inquire as to whether that number is available, and take it over if it is.
Welcome!

First, welcome to the forum. The red numbers are WBCCI (Wally Byrum Caravan Club International) member numbers. They are assigned to the person/s that belong to the club, not the trailer. If you want to join the club, there is a chance that the previous owners are no longer WBCCI members, and the number is available, and in that case you can use the numbers. Otherwise, you should remove them. They are vinyl stick-ons and can be peeled off using a small amount of heat, like from a hair dryer.

If you do decide to take the numbers off, be prepared for "ghost numbers"....the aluminum under the numbers isn't faded like the rest of the trailer, so the numbers will still be visible.
I'd leave them on, if it were me.....unless you feel like stripping the trailer and polishing it, then you wouldn't see the numbers.

I was able to get my numbers off but some of the glue would not come off. For the last year I watched the magic of the sun slowly get rid of the glue over the numbers. The glue that held those numbers does not want to come off. I tried every type of chemical or solvent on the market. I will let the sun get rid of the glue over time.
The person above is correct about ghost numbers. You will always have them unless you polish your trailer.

Soften them up a bit with a hot air gun then they should be easier to remove with a plastic putty knife.
Try WD 40 or Goo Gone to get the residue. You can polish them off too. But then you will have to polish the rest of the trailer to match.
