Removing glue

Just purchased a 1969 Sovereign . The previous owner took good care of it except. Loved to put lots of decals on it. I plan to try to remove them with a heat gun but any suggestions on a solvent to cut the glue. Latter I will use remove-all to strip the clear coat so I won't worry about the finish. Thanks

Try mineral spirits first, then lacquer thinner.

Any solvent that is effective is also hazardous, so be careful, read labels, and take precautions.

I find that a heat gun is most effective for initial removal. I use acetone for final cleanup. It will dissolve the clearcoat, and is extremely flammable, but is less toxic than some of the other solvents.

Rapid Remover. Sold on Amazon. Gets decals and adhesive off in a snap. Used by folks doing vinyl signs.
