Remaining Naked after Stripping?

The stripe that is...... Have any of you left the blue stripe off after you removed it, or have you all replaced it with a new one? I think I'm kinda liking it without a stripe. Not to mention, I'd never have to strip one off again! Do you think the stripe is a "must have" for a '86, or can it live without one?

"oh yes they call it the streak"...Silver that is...

Becky,
You can do what you want. FWIW my 1975 only has the belt rail molding, and looks fine. My 80 has it but that is what it came with. From what I recall the wider stripe was originally used to differentiate between the Sovereign and the Excella models.

Boy, the title for this thread sure got my attention!...
If you look at your trailer, is there a shiny spot, or unfaded spot, where the stripe used to be?
If so, it may be better to replace the stripe to hide the shiny spot.

Well, I plan on stripping the entire trailer when it warms up. The stripe is coming off pretty nicely, and I think the glue will come off when I put the stripper on the clearcoat. If things don't go as planned there, I may be forced into putting a new stripe on regardless of what I might choose to do.
It now has the wide stripe on it, and it's a Sovereign.

Hi Becky,

I have always liked the blue stripes on Excellas. Mine certainly are cracked, though. I am considering painting new ones on instead. You can get 1/8” silver pinstripe tape so you could paint the 2 blues and put the silver pinstripe on with the tape.

Stripes? Stripes you say?? Cruise down this thread for some short lived nostalgia for swoopy graphics. What must the print-through be like after somebody removes those stripes?!

Thanks, Bob. That was a funny thread. Think I'll pass on the "Swoops"! I've noticed that the new Airstreams don't have any graphics. Maybe the mfr's caught on!

Cool replace it

i would replace first it gives a nice break in the side of the trailer even though all that aluminum looks good, even better polished. or you could try a diffrent color?
my stripe is cracked and peeling and broken in a lot of place's.
but i got a friend that works with vinel and he just happens to have alot of extra reflective blue. so i will have him replace the stripe but i not going with a the original square design iam going to change it a bit.
if you due go ahead and replace it. i would try to find a good Vinyl Graphics guy and have him do it should not cost to much and you wont have bubbles.
