day eight

Jim had surgery.
For those who know him and Buddy...we are taking care of Buddy. He is a Ranch dog at heart. Wish we had a sheep or goat for him.

I'm so glad Jim was somewhere where good people cared for him and Buddy. Get back on your feet quickly, Jim.

That is one pretty trailer!! Buddy says, " I can keep up with you guys"

I call Jim daily as well, some days are better than others, but he seems to be coming along. Can't wait for him to be up and around.

OMG, that is one beautiful trailer! I can see why Jim was so anxious to get her polished and be on the road.

I don't know which is Buddy, but all three dogs seem to be doing well together.

I don't even really know Jim, but I feel for him and am hoping he gets back on his feet soon.

Buddy is the black and white Border Collie. The Australian Shepherds are Robin's dogs.

In talking with him today, it sounds like it will be a slow recovery.

bwoodtx, thank you for clearing that up.

We used to have a part Border Collie and she was the best dog, very good with our kids. Actually, one day when our son was small, he was outside playing and suddenly we didn't see him. Panic set in, we all (three of us) were out calling for him, walking around the house, looking behind trees, etc. when all of a sudden he came backing out of the dog house (huge dog house), sweating like crazy -- he'd been in the dog house with our part Border Collie and her very, very young pups! And our Sheera (already named when we got her, a rescue dog) didn't even care that he was in there. So very gentle.

Jim update

Jim had his surgical review this afternoon. The operation is healing well. However, the femur is a huge bone to repair and he was told he is looking at a couple months of recovery. He is bummed out about the process....where to go, how to handle it and the medical system. Tomorrow he will get more info on all that. Buddy will live with us at Melody Ranch and thats no problem....we love to fatten him up and polish him a bit. Jim will be in the rehab facility in Flower Mound, TX for at least a few more days.

I only know the players from the posts on this thread, and I have to say I am moved by the kindness and support of Melody Ranch extended to Jim and Buddy!

This community of Airstreamers sets an example for the rest of the population in this wonderful country of ours....

Jim's daughter had problems getting her laptop set up on the hospital wifi, apparently. When I dropped by on Saturday, though, I was able to use my phone to show him the photos of Buddy enjoying Robin's hospitality and he enjoyed those.

He's counting the days until he can 1) go home and 2) travel with that shiny trailer.
